Life in Wellington No.5

Wow. We've been here for 6 months now - it seems like only yesterday we were packing up the house to come out here. It's time to share some more interesting or weird things we have learnt about NZ.

1. They protect their native birds. One way they do this is to build them houses... This one even had a little table on the porch!

2. New Zealanders or Kiwi's as they are an affectionately known are a forgetful bunch as this common road sign implies....

I'm sure they all pretend not to see it though!

3. Who recognises this??? go on... admit your age... when was the last time you saw one of these keeping your loaf of bread fresh??? Well they're on all the bread bags over here!!!

4. Wellingtonians are very proud of their Film achievements... here is the remnants of one of the hobbit houses from Lord of the Rings.

5. As I said above they look after their native birds:

We have yet to see a Penguin - although we thought we saw one today but it might have just been a big seagull :)
