Sun.........day

Sunday morning we were woken by Christams songs being played through a PA system from across the road. We thought this was a little strange but speaking to a few locals they saw nothing odd about it as today was the Nelson port Christmas parade.
The parade didn't start until 1pm so we decided to go for a walk as the songs were beginning to grate a little.

Before long it was 1pm and the parade started with clowns and elves giving out beach balls and sweets followed by a brass band.

Variuos floats promiting local businesses and charities were taking part, and much to Wendy's delight, the local mini club had come along to show support.

These guys were having a huge amount of fun driving all over the road and waving like mad to everyone.

The parade lasted around an hour and then the big man himself put in an apperance.

After the parade ended I had to get going in order to get back to Picton in time to catch the ferry.

On the way I saw some interesting things like this NZ version of a campervan

And how about this for personal transport?

Just pull the starter and dont bother peddeling!
