Finally we have internet access and we are able to update everyone with our latest news.
I can not believe I am typing this from the other side of the world! Wendy and I finally set foot on NZ soil on Saturday 25th October. Now the weird bit, we left L.A. on Thursday evening and the flight was 15hours long, so what happened to Friday?????
We were met at the airport by Wendy's boss, Henry, who showed us a little of Wellington whilst driving thru en route to Lower Hutt. Tired and emotional we arrived at the motel and were met with blank stares all round, obviously who ever had made the booking had dropped the ball, not good.
A few phone calls later and we had secured a bed for the night so we headed off to another motel.
Unfortunately they could only put us up until Monday night as they were fully booked as well!
The weekend passed rather slowly and we were all geared up to hit the ground running Monday morning only to discover it was Labour day (a bank holiday) so we decided to go for a walk and familiarise ourselves with the local area. What ensued was an 11 mile stoll thru several neighbouring districts. Needless to say we slept very well on Monday night and we needed it as the last few days had been very stressful.
Today was a completely different story and a massive relief. Wendy and I walked down to her new office and were introduced to some of her work colleagues. They made us very welcome and bent over backwards to accomodate us.
Free internet access, use of the phone and even going as far as ordering us both mobile phones on the company account so we can call prospective real estate agents and employers (for me).
One of the partners of the firm invited us both to morning tea and then proceeded to take us to a real estate agents and set up a few viewings of properties local to the area, his leaving comment, whilst handing over his business card was, 'if you need any references for these guys give me a call', what a top bloke!!
We are now trying to buy a car but as yet no luck, so we are still having to walk everywher. Its cheaper than going to a gym but it takes so long to get anywhere!!
