Trip to Melbourne

A little while back Wendy was in Melbourne for 3 weeks of work, so during the middle weekend I flew out to be with her. The weather leaving Wellington was excellent so I got a few photos of take off from the plane window.

When I arrived in Melbourne it was late at night but here is the view from Wendy's office on the 43rd floor.

We spent the weekend just wandering around Melbourne and enjoying having some time together

Some of the buildings are so much bigger than in Wellington where there are no buildings over 20 floors due to the risk with earthquakes.

We took advantage of the free tram service to get around the city...

They are a bit old and rickerty but it beats walking

We headed for the Melbourne museum where they had the Titanic exhibition, featuring lots of artifacts recovered from the sea bed. It also had the full history of the building of the ship and what each of the cabins were like.

There was also a replica of the grand staircase, this photo was taken in a hurry as you had to pay for photos taken by a professional, and we felt it wasn't worth the $20 asking price.

After walking back through the city we headed for a restaurant and a bar for some well earned R+R

A couple of Cosmo's and we were ready to call it a day
