That dirty word...........

It seems insulation is a dirty word in NZ.

Not sure why but......................people here seem to think insulation keeps your house warm, and therefore they do not want it as it'll make a house warm(er) in the summer.....

Well Wendy and I decided very early on that insulation would be put in as many palces as possible in our house and so a little while ago we strated looking at what deals were available.

After a good deal of research we found that the NZ Government were offering $1300 off the price of insulation so long as it was installed by a recognised fitter.

We got a few quotes and they came in at around $2.5K!!!!

After 20 minutes on the internet I found a company offering enough insulation to do our house to the same spec for under $700. SOLD!!!!

Time to go shopping for some protective gear..................

So we had the gear, and the insulation (spot the cat)

There he is

And we got cracking. Thankfully it was a cloudy day and not too warm but it was still very hard going!

So by the end of the day we had a bit more insulation in the loft :-)

The house is now very toasty as we have also had the walls filled with insulation foam. Highly recommended as it also reduces noise so we are sleeping better as well :-)
